Bellydance Costuming: Advanced Concepts
BELLYDANCE COSTUMING: ADVANCED CONCEPTS WITH ANITA
Date: Saturday, August 13, 2016
Duration: 2 hours
This workshop is a more in depth look at constructing costuming pieces from scratch. I'll share with you how I cover bras and my basic fabric belt pattern. I'll also show you how I make the medallions I use for belt fronts and hair fascinators. We'll discuss what kind of patterns to look for when constructing matching bellydance costume pieces like pants, skirts, and shrugs from scratch. And I'll finish off by discussing the matchy accessories you can make with fabric remnants like wristies, mini tophats, and fabric headbands.
I've been sewing since I was 12, starting in junior high Home Economics classes. That makes for 30 years of sewing on and off; I also have a Tailoring Certificate from NAIT ('91) before that program was discontinued. I've been creating and constructing bellydance costumes for myself for the last 5 years, since starting fusion classes at Bedouin Beats in 2009.
