American Tribal Style® Level 1 Winter 2018
AMERICAN TRIBAL STYLE® LEVEL 1 WITH TRIDEVI TRIBAL WEDNESDAYS 7:45PM-8:45PM
Starts: Wednesday, January 17, 2018
Duration: 10 weeks
ATS® celebrates the strength and beauty of dancers working together as a group. Formatted steps, cues, eye-contact and the familiarity of musical phrasing allow dancers to stitch together an improvisational tapestry each time they dance. American Tribal Style® is based on group improvisation rather than choreography. The ATS® system uses a standardized “vocabulary” of dance movements with built in cues and transitions that make it possible for dancers to improvise together in set formations. Created by Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman in the 1980s because she needed people to dance with, ATS® is now a world-wide phenomenon! Once you learn the foundational language of ATS®, you can dance with anyone else who knows it!
Level two and three require a strong understanding of the ATS® system, which can only be gained by first taking Level one. Familiarity with belly dance, or any other dance form, will likely help you progress quickly into the more advanced classes.
In Level one, you will gain an understanding and knowledge of the foundational moves that make up all of ATS®.
Have you ever taken a Fusion class? A lot of those moves originated with ATS®. Rachel Brice herself teaches a strong ATS® foundation at her infamous Datura studio.
Come and take Level one with members of TriDevi Tribal. This is a non-performing drop-in class. We will learn and hone those moves that are integral to the rest of the beautiful dance we call American Tribal Style®. This class is suitable for beginners and advanced students alike. By revisiting the foundational steps, you will strengthen your technique and performance in Levels two and three.
This is not a performance class but we hope you'll join us in the audience for our end of session student showcase in December!
DROP-INS NOW ACCEPTED! This class allows drop-ins for $20 per class or with a class-card for greater savings! If you can commit to 10 weeks, please do register so we know how many to expect.
