BELLYDANCE FOR KIDS! WITH ELVIRA SATURDAYS 9:00AM-10:00AM
Starts: Saturday, April 15, 2017
No dance experience necessary.
This is a very fun and energetic 1 hour class which introduces children to the movement and styles of bellydance, also known as Raks Sharki. We focus on the learning of fundamental movements in the first few weeks and then begin putting them together to create new movements and combinations. Bellydance is an ideal dance form for a child to begin or explore as it is a very nurturing dance, and helps to develop a child’s balance, coordination, and sense of rhythm. I can honestly say that this class really bolsters self esteem and confidence, and is very empowering.
Our classes are ideal for children aged 7-12 years, male or female. We perform at our Spring/ Summer recital in the third term, and at many festivals in the summer.
We learn a new style every year, with focus being on technique and combinations in the first term, learning and performing a choreography in the second, finessing and preparing to perform at festivals in the third term. Registration is for one term with the start date being stated above.
Each class begins with a warm up, and ends with a cool down, including a small presentation, towards the latter weeks of the term, for the parents so that they can see the children's progress. A water bottle, loose or stretchy clothing, and a hip scarf recommended. Costuming for recital and performances will be discussed with the parents during the term.
Elvira is an accomplished dancer and performing artist, with Level 1 Instructor Training Certification with Hadia, teaching dance with EPS, and a mother of two.
Student recital info: We celebrate the end of each 10 week session with a fun dance recital! This class is a performing class.
