Previous bellydance experience is an asset in this class, but not necessary.
Zills, or finger cymbals are necessary for this class. They may be purchased from our store.
The Suhaila Salimpour (daughter to Jamila Salimpour) format is pure bellydance technique and muscle stengthening following this internationally acclaimed methodology.
You will learn a wonderful choreography that puts it all together and has you dancing like a queen!
Each class will start with warm up and drill exercises that will promote specific physical strength and muscle development required to bellydance safely and efficiently.
These exercises will actually strengthen the use of your glutes as the basis for your hipwork leaving your legs and abs free to layer fabulous things on top of!
You will identify muscle contractions involved for particular movements and learn to isolate the right muscle group for your movement.
You will also learn specific concepts like timing and downbeats as used in Suhaila's program. Finger cymbal patterns will be taught with both right and left hand dominance. Experience with finger cymbals is not necessary.
Please bring a yoga mat to class and water.
